Understanding NIJ Levels 3 and 3a

When shopping for ballistic protection, it’s important to know what NIJ (National Institute of Justice) levels mean. The NIJ (National Institute of Justice) only tests and certifies body armor with their NIJ-Certified mark. Other ballistic products like tactical shields and ballistic bag inserts are not certifiable by the NIJ.
